<div>Muscle cars have come so far from the days of yore. The stigma once attached to American cars that they couldn’t handle or keep up in the curves is no longer true. Especially when you consider the thriving aftermarket that has popped up around these pony cars. <br />

Steeda</a> is an excellent example, and the <a href="http://forums.themustangsource.com/showthread.php?t=478892" target="_blank">Mustang Source</a> revealed the Q550 Streetfighter Mustang which debuted last week at the L.A. Auto Show.<br />

The Q550 Streetfighter is supercharged by a <a href="http://www.fordracing.com/" target="_blank">Ford Racing</a> Whipple supercharger and should make around 550 horsepower. And since its from Ford Racing, its 50 state emissions legal. A vented hood keeps the engine cooled off to the most power from the supercharger. Other modifications include an 11-13 rib belt drive kit, custom engine calibration and a Tri-Ax shifter. While the horsepower is impressive, and Steeda claims the car to hit 60 mph in under 4 seconds and manage the quarter mile in just 11 second, the real impressive stuff is in the suspension.<br />

The Steeda rear spoiler was tuned for maximum down force while reducing aerodynamic drag. The rear facia has also been tuned for maximum aero efficiency and the least amount of drag. The Q550 is hooked up with Steeda/<a href="http://www.tokicousa.com/" target="_blank">Tokico</a> struts and shocks, a sway bar, watts linkage, 3-point frame rail and torque boxes for extra rigidity, and a bumpsteer kit. This allows the Steeda to achieve an incredible 1.2 g’s on the skid pad. The Q550 will be available for sale the first quarter of 2010.<br />
