+1 its a stupid idea. junking cars that work, that could go to people who cant afford NEW cars. ever wonder why they are getting crushed instead of resold or redistributed? because the metal is going to china. look it up. this is all a plot to make the economy appear to be better, and to pay off the debt for his stimulus to china. think about it, if the gov is giving 4500 to a person for a piece of crap to buy a car where is that money coming from? us! we are buying there cars, and then we are sending our purchased clunkers to china to pay his debt. of course the auto industry is better, your giving away free money, tax money. when the tax money runs out, people stop buying new cars, detroit hurts again, etc, etc.
