Big block motors, enormous twin turbochargers and Lenco transmissions all wrapped up into a cool door slammer package, what’s not to like? For those of us who enjoy seeing the latest and greatest door slammer builds, Brian Brown from Quicktime Motorsports has enlightened us with updates on Brian Harrell’s 1998 Mustang destined for Outlaw 10.5 Competition in 2010.
The motor in this car is going to be a 600+ cubic inch big block Ford that was put together by the legendary wrenches over at Proline Race Engines. A nasty set of big block Ford heads were sourced from Blue Thunder THOR Gen II heads that flow well over 500cfm and possess a massive 475cc intake runner volume. Providing the boost for this monster of a motor will be a set of twin 94mm GTE turbos from Billet Turbochargers. What we’ve heard thus far is that these turbos are an all new design and this will be one of the first teams testing them in a real world environment – but even using given specs on older 94mm turbo designs a set of these should be capable of pushing well over 3000hp under the ideal conditions.
A lot of the custom time-consuming (over 1200 hours so far) work such as plumbing, suspension, roll cage and even wiring was all done in-house by Quicktime. Robert from Chiseled Performance fabricated the intercooler, fuel cell, custom water tank and transmission cooler setup. The forged Weld Racing wheels are a tasteful addition to the car’s extremely magnificent black paint. The team is hoping to get this Outlaw SN-95 onto the 1320 for testing by next month and we can’t wait to see it lay down some numbers! Expect to see this new Outlaw 10.5 contender dip deep into the 6’s before long once the car is all sorted out.
