Day started out to just be an oil change... WTF

Day started around 11 AM ( its sat.. and i was relaxin ya know ) and the wife says she needs to get her oil changed and my immediate thought was So do i... i have 300 miles on the Pi swap and its about due time any way.

We head to wally world on Palm off the 805 and we check our cars in i tell them what i want and so far all is good.

an hour and a half later my wifes car is done and i'm greeted by the bay manager saying i have a overtorqued drain bung and the threads have spun ( wont tq down but the plug will still hold ). They didn't do the work and i was not charged.

I hop in my car and IMMEDIATLY head down to the place that last did my oil change and start yelling at the first person i see they look at me like i'm nuts and say " give us a few min to get this car out of the bay and we'll look at it, correct it and change your oil with a 10 dollar discount. "

currently i'm in shock because they didn't seem weird about the situation. they go on to tell me that wal-mart has sent them more business than advertizing over such things like this.

I get under the car with one of the techs and take a look at the bolt/bung and watch him use a tq wrench set to 15 ft lbs and it clicks. he then removes the bolt we look at the threads and NOTHING is wrong. he then takes out a tap and chases the threads and installs a new bolt at no charge. Thats what made me think possibly wal-mart was right but none the less the bolt held and tq'd to manufactuer specs before and after.

i get back up and pop the hood and i notice the oil cap is totally missing. Wally world didn't reinstall it, and if they did they didn't tighten it. SO i have them add in the comments on my oil change that the oil cap was missing. they do not sell or have any on hand.

I head back over to walmart, start cussing and i'm greeted by a manager. Wally world does not sell oil caps any more. :wtf: Now i'm driving down to the nearest autozone to buy a oil cap, just to return to walmart to get my money back. And I did...

This has been my day. cheap wally world oil is Never even going to be thought about in my car again no matter how broke i am I'll spend the extra 12 bucks on even non synthetic oil.

Funny, they did the same thing to my in-laws focus. They never checked the engine after picking up the car as most who don't work on cars would do. Come to find that they never finished topping off the oil and never even put the cap back on. They didn't find this out until the engine blew while my father-in-law broke down heading to a union job in Ventura!!! He took wal-mart to small claims court and lost!!! Cost them over $1000 dollars to get it fixed. A friend and I did the engine swap or it would have been more.

thier mobil 1 oil is cheaper than anyone, but is the same as higher price places. It takes 9.5 quarts every oil change for me. I have to buy 2 5 qt jugs. Its cheaper that buying it one quart at a time.

Sorry for your bad service. You dont have the place to do it yourself. It cost me $50 every oil change, and thats IF I change it myself. I took it somewhere once about 3 years ago and cost close to $100. Last time I took it to anyone.

Shame on you for taking your baby to FAILMART for an oil change when you can do it yourself so easily....
Here's an instructional video in case you need some help...

For those who keep pointing out that you do your own oil changes we are proud of you, lol! The guy just did a head swap on his car, so I think he is more than capable of changing his own oil. Sometimes we make bad decisions or decisions based off hectic schedules. Those of us with kids understand this. Lesson learned I'm sure.
