Ford Racing announced at last weeks PRI show that they are offering five new engines for competition in NHRA’s Stock and Super Stock classes. The engines include an all aluminum 5.4-liter supercharged engine for Super Stock and a 5.4-liter supercharged cast iron engine for Stock eliminator. These engines are similar to the motors offered in the factory built 2010 Cobra Jet and will allow the do-it-yourself racer to compete in NHRA Sportsman class with their own Cobra Jet engine package.
New for 2010 is a 4.6-Liter 3-valve engine approved for Stock Eliminator and for the pushrod diehards a 352 and 428 engine based on Ford Racing’s new Boss engine line-up. The 352 cubic inch engine is based on the Boss 302 block and the 428 cubic inch engine is made from the new Boss 351 9.5 deck block.
The NHRA “approved” crate engine are available through any Ford Racing dealer and we hope this will help populate the GM dominated Stock and Super Stock field with more late model Mustangs. There is something about a Chevy Cobalt with a big block V8 and big rear slicks that is just wrong! These engine combinations allow the Cobra Jet and other late model Mustangs to compete in 52 different Stock Eliminator and Super Stock classes.
