After decades of languishing behind the curve with wimpy corporate six-banger motors, Ford is finally getting serious about its bread-and-butter pony car. Replacing the ancient 4.0 liter V6 engine is an all aluminum 3.7 liter V6.<br />

The 3.7 liter V6 makes more horsepower than many V8 Mustangs of the past, putting down an impressive 305 horsepower and 280 ft-lbs of torque. And when backed with Ford’s six-speed automatic transmission, it gets a remarkable 30 MPG (opting for the manual transmission will drop fuel economy by 2 MPG). <br />
<br />
The 2011 V6 Mustang will come with a lot more standard features, like a 160 MPH speedometer and an 8,000 RPM tachometer. The new V6 Mustang is being offered with a performance package to up the ante. This package comes with a locking differential with 3.31:1 gears, dual exhaust, GT-spec brakes, as well as front and rear struts from the GT as well. <br />
<br />
The automatic transmission will come with a Sport mode button that allows for more slip in the corners. This will certainly help put the performance back in pony car, and making it even more affordable both off the dealer lot and for insurance purposes.
