Today was the first day of school for the little ones. Well my daughters class only had 8 kids listed in her class. We thought that was odd. Today when they went to school we found out why. They dont do Gifted and Talented at the 2nd grade level here. What they do is a precursor to that program. It is where they combine the more advanced 2nd graders with the advanced 3rd graders. The teacher will teach them as fast as they can pick up the information for their respective grades. Basically, she will be taught at a third grade level, moving her along as quickly as she absorbs the info. This is one alternative to moving her ahead a grade. I didnt want to do that because she would be way younger than the rest of the kids. This way she is still completeing 2nd grade but is getting well ahead for the next one too.
We have never pushed her to learn or any of that, she has just picked up on school work and done it all on her own. If any of you know me and the wife, you know she didnt get it from us....LOL I am very proud of the effort she puts into it and enjoy seeing her proud of her own accomplishments.
