<br />Some potential future Mustang news comes by way of an internet forum user who calls himself <em>TheInsider</em>. With a handle like that, he must know what he's talking about, right? We kid. But some of the rumors he spills gives with what we've been hearing too. In any case, this source tells the masses at The Mustang Source that the 2011 Mustang's 3.7-liter V6 will be rated at 315 horsepower, neatly outperforming the direct-injected 3.6-liter unit installed in the Chevrolet Camaro by a handful of ponies. But wait, there's more!<br /><br />Moving up the power ladder a step, the 2011 GT will see a bump up to an even 400 horsepower, which we're expecting to come from the 5.0-liter Coyote V8, and those horses will be corralled though a new six-speed manual gearbox. Unfortunately, because the base V6 will sport so much additional power, the mooted EcoBoost model may never come to fruition.<br /><br />As we've <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/12/report-2011-ford-mustang-to-get-upgraded-track-pack-to-handle-5/">previously heard</a>, rumor has it that the '11 Stang with the new Coyote V8 and Track Pack with Pirelli P Zero Corsa R tires was able to lap GingerMan Raceway in South Haven, Michigan at the same rate as a current BMW M3 - fine company indeed. The final two insights of note are that next year's GT500 will be blessed with an <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/17/2010-shelby-gt500-uses-cast-iron-not-aluminum-block/">aluminum block</a> and that a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/06/23/damn-4-gas-ford-kills-boss-engine-for-f-150-mustang-needs-l/">Boss edition</a> is slated for 2012. Not surprisingly, six pages have accrued on the thread since yesterday morning. <a href="http://forums.bradbarnett.net/showthread.php?t=484689">Click here</a> to check out the banter in its entirety.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2010-ford-mustang-gt/low/">First Drive: 2010 Ford Mustang GT</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2010-ford-mustang-gt/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/2010mustangfd_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2010-ford-mustang-gt/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/2010mustangfd_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2010-ford-mustang-gt/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/2010mustangfd_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2010-ford-mustang-gt/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/2010mustangfd_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2010-ford-mustang-gt/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/2010mustangfd_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://forums.bradbarnett.net/showthread.php?t=484689">The Mustang Source</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/09/02/hold-on-to-your-horses-2011-mustang-details-leak-out-on-interne/">Hold Your Horses: 2011 Mustang details leak out on internet forum?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 02 Sep 2009 17:00:00 EST. like what i'm hearing... and as long as no machs come out, i can be happy of having a unique mustang. :)

400hp gt with a six speed gear box... wow... and with the track pack, keeping pace with an m3? sounding real nice.

Wondering where I am!?!?
Tempting on the "Coyote" engine, just hate to give up the B that is paid off for a car payment.

Hmmm, maybe an engine swap?

I think its totally worth it to get the Coyote. But, can also keep the Bullitt and use it as a DD (but have to park it on the street).

The rumors of the Coyote V8 have been flying around for 6 months, but I really didn't think they were going to use that engine. I heard that it was overseas only and they had really limited production. That is a heck of an engine. The 6 speed will most likely be the T56.

If they do come out with a 300+hp V6, you can be assured that what ever the GT has will be healthy.

I don't know. When I see it, I will believe it.

I hope Ford isn't reacting to the latest Camaro sales figures. Because that is going to be short lived.

I predicted the EcoBoost, so maybe the name alone would hurt the sales of the Mustang, but it sure would be nice to have Turbo'd Mustang from the factory.

ill believe it when i see it. they need to do something. as far as rwhp and transmission selection so far the gt matches a 95 z28. thats pretty sad. 26k for 300hp and a five speed? sh!ts weak. 400hp and a 6speed would be nice, nice to have what gm has HAD. uggh, ford pisses me off. thats why i want a vette so bad.lol.

Yeah....I don't get it either. Problem is, Ford doesn't compare themselves to GM. They think they are on a different level now. So if a BMW 3 has 300hp or less, it's fine for performance Mustang.

And Ford is tight with the all the aftermarket parts companies and they would cry if Ford made the GT that powerful right out of the gate.

Ford could easily make a 400hp right now and not cost them much. Not sure why, but they are just very resistant to it. Makes me mad also.

Hell, my Shelby doesn't even come with a respectable CAI. They couldn't add it for about $100 and it could be 40hp higher. But they would rather sell a kit for $900 to me.

I think it is all about the Aftermarket Parts. Big Money there.
