Wondering where I am!?!?
I am sitting in a little "Hole in the Wall" bar, the old guy next to me asks about my "Old School" tattoos. I say I am Retired Navy and I am a fan of the old pin up girl tattoos. He shows me a couple of his tats on his arm that are so black you can barely see them. I asked when he served. His answer was, "I watch those Japs bomb my ship!" I sat back and was shocked! His next words were, "No, not the Arizona, everybody knows about that."
I tried to slowly pry out of him which ship and he wouldn't answer. I asked him why and he told me he should have been aboard instead of out screwing around on Liberty.
Another older gentleman sat on the other side of me as we were talking. He asked if I had ever been stationed here and I said no, been through though.
He started to tell me of all of the troops that passed through Hawaii and their way to Veitnam. The WWII Vet started to get tears in his eyes and said he remembered all of the troops that did the same thing in "His" war.
I moved out of the middle so I could let the two talk. My God what a History lesson I just got!!!
For two hours those guys talked and I just didn't have a thing to say.
I am so p!ssed off I don't carry a tape recorder while I am over here!!
