I will be leaving the San Diego Chapter....

Well my shore duty is nearing the end. Bout 8 months left. I called today to find out the orders I got. Well I had applied for:

1. USS Halyburton-Mayport, FL
2. USS Bulkely- Norfolk, VA
3. USS Lake Erie-Pearl Harbor, HI
4. USS Russell-Pearl Harbor HI
5. USS Chung-Hoon- Pearl Harbor, HI

I got the best fit for me which is the USS Chung Hoon. I will be leaving San Diego in May to report about the 1st of June. From what I have read, I will be deploying shortly after getting there. Michelle and family will be most likely staying here until I return, then moving out there too. That just depends on schedule changes. Just figured I would let everyone know that the orders are official.

Congrats Gibs....if that's the order you wanted. We'll miss you here. Will this give you a better chance to getting back to the east coast? I know in the past, orders to Hawaii is considered overseas duty and they allow you a choice of coast at the end of the tour.

I wont be leaving for awhile yet HP1, but thanks I will tell her. Well I intend to leave there on retirement orders..... I will have about a year left though so may goto 21 years and get a shore duty out of the east coast. Will have to use a Guard 2000 or whatever they call it now though. It is kind of what I wanted since they wouldnt send me east. I figure if I have to stay out here, might as well get some cash to do it.

COLA will pay off my cars and credit cards before I get back.

well I dont know anyone there like I do here, so it is gonna be a little different. Also, Michelle and I will both be at a disadvantage. When we came here, I had been here several times for months on end and knew a little bit about where to not go and stuff......

well Emilio, I have had a great time. Alot is because of a thread I opened on another forum, where I got invited to WS's. You guys here really made my shore tour alot of fun. I cant wait to race a few times before we transfer...

Thanks but after my latest Fitrep, 8 wont happen...... not enough under the desk time for me...LOL Seriously though, I wasnt gonna make 8 on shore anyway. I will be just fine and have a couple good shots at it while on the ship.

I really wanted Mayport so I will try for that next time.
