Car put down 248 hp and 268 Tq

248 hp was at the end of the sheet so it was still making power but because of my gears its struggling to get there

268 was at just about exactly 4k rpm

this was at 17 deg of timing because the ecu was pulling timing due to coolant temp over 200 ( 202-208 ) so i need to find a way to keep the car just a litttttttlle cooler

17* max on a non-blower car? Why is the car getting that hot? What thermostat do you have? Are you telling me your gear ratio is only allowing you to pull to 4000rpm?

I have not seen a single car come out of there with an impressive tune. I'm disgusted that you guys continue to go there.

i have a 180 deg thermostat in the car guess its just not good enough.

and no at 4k is where the car made peak torque. gears are limiting my rpm range because its strugling to push any further.

the car is stronger than those numbers show but currently i'm ecu limited because of the coolant temp... some times i hate using the stock ecu to tune with... if things like this continue... one day its gonna be an aftermarket ecu. all i gotta do is get the engine temp below 200 and keep it there and i'll have another 10 deg of timing

first time on i had him take the car to 6500 rpm. after 6000 the hp started dropping off real bad. but i think with some better gears i could spin the motor a little higher ( 6400 rpm or so )

Put a 160* in it. Is your cooling system operating properly, i.e. radiator not clogged, anti-freeze topped off? Since he keeps cars for days upon end why not let the car cool off before running it @ 200+*? It's not like he didn't have time.

if power was dropping off at 6500 its not a matter of gearing...

motor was getting hotter in the upper rpms because of the time it was taking to get there. on that run it maxed at 218 ( 216 i believe was the next timing reduction )

I think for now untill i can get a 160 i'm going to reset my fans to 170/180 for high and see if that will keep it cool enough.

isnt 6500 about the redline anyway? What was the peak HP at?

thats less an issue of gears, and more an issue of an inadequate cooling system.

you car will prolly peak hp around 5800 unless you have majorly ported heads. My cams supposed to make power till 6200, but only on ported heads. It made 293 and 5800 rpms.

SO. imma see if dante will play with the tune again some time and update it now that ive got this issue fixed

Did you at least order the160 deg t stat?

nope. at least not yet. currently i have not been able to get the car above 194 deg which is 6 deg below the threshold of the timing retard. I'll deal with what ive got for now but the 160 will come later.

Glad you got it fixed, but I say see what it does at the track tomorrow. That will be the true test to see if the car is getting hot.

No need to delete anything and no need for popcorn, lol! Everyone is entitled to their opinion. As long as this kid has been around he has had issues with that car, but I'm the dumb one?

I've been under my car for 2 days trying to set up the suspension. I'm too tired to get mad. To each his own.....Carry on citizens!
