so, i got a mini spool the other day to get me by until i upgrade to 31 or 33 splines. but i was wondering who has used one before. it bolts right into the stock dif. one thing i have noticed is there is a little bit of play. is that normal for these. jsut want to make sure i got it together right. thanks

its a spool you can put into an open diff. i took out all my spider gears and put in the spool. it locks the axles together.

I need to start learning about rear ends.... going to build mine soon. Let me know how it works out and what you would recommend!

Just not as strong as a regular spool.

Mini-spools don't car much for street driving..........LESS than regular spools.

for a street driver I wouldn't have a spool I have a l/s.
For a track only car Lock it up and rock on. just my thoughts. I think DSG has a spool but not sure.

The best rear differential is an auburn traction lock differential, in my opinion. Just get the wallet out....or plastic in most cases.

Actually the TORSEN type differential is the best. No clutches to wear out, no clanking and no push in the corners.
Get out bigger plastic though!

so.... the mini spool doesnt work. my axle splines arent long enough to push the axle in and attach the c-clip. annoying right. oh well......i put it up on craigslist. maybe someone can use it. i did some research and they are notorious for breaking anyway.

lesson to all. dont go cheap on parts. you get what you pay for

I'm glad ya done that. Take it from me, axles can break at the wrong time and cause MASSIVE damage. I killed my beloved little fox as I hit second gear and grabbed the second stage of nitrous.........a hard 200hp hit. I crossed over the lane and hit the wall at about 80, bounced off and crossed over and hit the other wall head on. No way to get out of it that quick.

definately dont want that to happen. car is just gonna sit in the driveway on jack stands til i have the funds to play with it. til then im gonna get a cheap bike to go back and forth on.
