My Opinion on the NEW SHELBY

They are COMPLETELY different cars. In fact, I hated the GT-500 for the first week I had it. Of course, once I realized that they were different cars, I am growing to appreciate the GT-500 for what it is: a big, wide, lumbering muscle car with LOTS of horsepower. On the other hand, the 2004 Cobra SVT is more race like in ride and handling. I am getting more thumbs up than the 2004.

Well guys there is a TSB for my new 2009 SHELBY GT500, it is going back to the dealer to get all the little things I don't like fixed... I asked for New Rear Tires because the one that came with it were messed up bad... With only 55 miles on the odometer they mangaged to mess up the tires. Next the Transmission TR6060 is getting upgraded to the lastest and greatest. They replacing the Input Shaft, Synchronizer assemblies, clutch Disc and Plate SAssembly, Pilot Bearing and Flywheel... Ford come out with all new parts for the 2007-2009 and are only replacing them if you have the issues.. And yes, I have them... So did Eric and Alisha:( I am hoping to have the car back before Saturday so that I can install all my goodies..

Good luck in getting it back on Friday night, because that's what you'll have to to get it work on Saturday. Looks like it'll be another week before we do it, but wait.....the following week is the winery cruise. :nonono::nonono:

its funny you drop 40g's on a car thats brand new and stuff is broken on it...that would upset me.

if i drop 40g on something i'd be furious if it came broken / had broken parts within the first week.

now imagine e sinking that 40 large into tweety... he'd need landing gear for when he gets to the end of the 1/4.

heck, people at the track wear flame suits, e would be dawning a flight suit.

Dont be discouraged. Mine's had the TSB done. Lame that ford wont just do a recall, but unless you've got a garage queen you'll meet the requirements and they'll take care of it.

She does ride like a boat. Far too high up, far too soft, and people say I'm imagining it, but I swear I can feel the panhard bar swinging the rear end out on every compression. After living with the IRS on the cobra, I can only imagine what the live axle must feel like to you!

Add a decent set of springs, shocks and an adjustable panhard bar to your shopping list. Or maybe go for a griggs racing kit if you have the cash. The SS kit is pretty straight forward. Though if you are going to drag race it, the SS kit doesn't leave enough room to fit 345's under there.

Found out some more caveats on the Griggs: if you want to run 15" wheels for dragging, then you don't want the Griggs kit because it messes up the mods you have to do to make the 15" wheels fit. Got my Griggs ST kit today and its freakin phenomenal. Can't wait for that track day Joseph was talking about. I'm also going to try some Mickey Thompson 305/45R18's on the back for racelegal maybe :)
