Well, I got to enjoy the company of my sailor son Craig who finished school in Great Lakes before he shipped out to Norfolk and his new home away from home the USS Nassau.
Pictured with my son & me are my younger daughters L-R Jordan (6) & Julia (9).
Funny part is he said he didn’t think the Marine Corps was for him (I agreed BTW) so at first he wanted to go in the Air Force like his big sister did (USAF 14yrs) but changed his mind a few dead-end jobs later he thought about becoming a Coastie then changed his mind again after they kept giving him the runaround so the only recruiters that gave him a straight answer was the Navy.
Anyway all that effort to stay away from “his dad’s branch of the military” and out of all the possibilities as an Electricians Mate for assignments he ends up in the Gator Navy working as part of the Marine NAVY Team.
So while the Marine Corps gets the last laugh – I’m still proud of my son!
