NBC Special Report: Naval Special Warfare

January 25-28th, 2010

Background: NSW PA Team has been working with NBC's Chris Jansing since
July, 2009 to create a four-part series of news features to coincide with
the Winter Olympics. Coverage is currently scheduled to run Monday through
Thursday (Jan 25-28) with four stories on NBC's Nightly News and four
stories on Today Show with Reporter Chris Jansing live in studio. Stories
will be posted online on MSNBC / NBC Websites.

4 Part Series:

1 NSW Recruiting:

How the Navy reaches out to potential physically capable candidates through
various efforts including target recruiting events at colleges and venues
throughout the county. Highlights relationship with US Olympic athletes and
NSW to bring awareness of NSW to likeminded athletes, in particular, the US
Water Polo and US Swim Teams. Mentions current US Swim medalist in training
but not by name. Discusses community outreach efforts including the SEAL
Fitness Challenge and other highlighted sports that translate well into
potential BUD/S success.

2 Extreme Fitness:

Meant to peak interest from Olympic drawn audience. A look at how NSW
physically trains SEAL candidates in BUD/S Prep, BUD/S Indoctrination and
BUD/S. Highlights extreme marathon runner SO1 David Goggins, his background
and his physical accomplishments. Other extreme fitness sports highlighted
includes Iron Man, Superfrog and the NSW Mountain Bike Team.

3 Mental Toughness:

While most viewers are aware on some level of the physical rigors it takes
to become a Navy SEAL, most are unaware of the level mental toughness and
control it takes to be successful. Highlights mentorship program, BUD/S Prep
and BUD/S Indoctrination mental techniques used by the world's top athletes.
Various BUD/S and SEAL Qualification Training (SQT) evolutions highlighted
to emphasize mental toughness and adaptive training.

4 Family Support:

Highlights the unsung heroes of NSW, the families, and what NSW is doing to
take care of the families before the operator deploys, while he is overseas,
and when he returns. Wives talk of their personal experiences, how NSW
community supports each other with husbands deployed, and resources they've
used such as the Ombudsman program, FOCUS Project, CARE Coalition
highlighted.
