What's better? H or X?

What are the advantages and disadvantages of both?

Plan and Simple

X-Pipes generally make a little more HP and a little less torque than an aftermarket H-pipe.

H = low end torque
X = high end horsepower

Also, The H-Pipe will have a deeper sound, while the X-Pipe will have a higher pitched raspier sound.

keep in mind,,,,,,,,,, bbk likes to make their parts so that damn near only other bbk parts fit up to them!!! i had to fabricate my own pipe for my long tubes!! any way, i would go w the x pipe as well!! good luck man!!

People, you are talking about a difference of maybe 2-4hp (x-pipe) and 2-4tq (H-pipe). You are not going to notice the difference. H-pipes tend to be a little louder due to the air having to bounce off 90* turns.

I wouldn't do "True duels" because the x & h-pipes help equalize cylinder pressures and keep things consistant through the engine.

Just my $.02

Not even my BBK O/R H pipe wanted to match up to my bbk shorties. Had to cut and weld. Good luck with that...

P.S. What keeps happening with the street legal thing? lol

:rofl: Thats an easy one in case I lose my "friend" that helps me at smog time. I can always bolt these on/off. I want it mostly for sound.

Go with JBA, probably can get it much quicker too.

I have JBA on my car and I have no complaint.

Here's the short and sweet on H or X pipe.

H pipe-Better Torque and a deeper sound

X pipe-Performance and a higher pitch sound.

HP difference is very minimal. Maybe +2hp at most. Mainly is the sound.

I ended up bolting on the old, beat up and rusted H-pipe which happens to be two seperate straight catted pipes. Previous owner cut off the H center portion and welded the holes shut. Don't know why.

I have an offroad in the works :biggrin: as soon as I get long tubes :hello:
