Some ask why I didn't add more HP. Instead of working on your interior. JMHO GT500 doesn't have a nice interior. Its lacking in a lot of areas. Comes with descent HP and outside looks killer. With just a few suspension mods and tune its a nice car. But the interior needs work. So I decided about six months ago to redo my interior. My goal was to do as much of the work as possible. So far everything has been done by me. Except for embroidery work. I'll try to get everyone caught up on where I'm at. Next I'll be doing a twin turbo system. Cant wait to get started on it. So on with what this thread is about. I only have a few things to finish it up. Front seats, dash, console, sub box and a few other small things. Here's a list of things that i've done and needs to be done.
- Rear seats, recovered in black leather, with blue leather inserts. All stitching through out car is Blue.
-Front seats recovered to match rear. But will be Recaro sport seats that I have. So I can use five point harness and install roll bar.
- Headliner and sunvisors recovered with Black Alcantara. Headliner has some embroidery work done also. Alcantara is German made synthetic material. Looks like suede leather. Some German made cars use Alcantara. So does Ford, New mustangs have some and Lightning's seat were made out of Alcantara.
- Blue leather inserts, rear side panels and front doors.
- Painted plastic. Some plastic is painted black. But done right. First sanded with 600 and then 1500 sand paper. Sent out to be primered. Sanded again with 1500. Sent back to body shop for three coats of black and three coats of clear. Then sanded with 2000 and polished with compound. Came out to a mirror like finish.
- New black carpet in trunk. I made a molded carpet. I bought three yards of Bentley carpet. Very nice stuff. I glued all seams with carpet tape and hot carpet iron. Took me about 10 to 12 hours. To cover spare tire area. I cut a piece of 1/4 inch birch plywood. Then glued it to the carpet. Made trunk side panels out of birch plywood. Then covered them with carpet. Had a fabricator make aluminum panels to fill in sides and floor of trunk. So carpet would lay flat. Because inside of trunk has big holes on each side. Carpeted side panels made a nice spot to mount crossovers for stereo system. Had fabricator make a billet amp rack out of 1X1 aluminum square billet tubing. I have two JL Audio amps bolted to it. I still need to polish amp rack.
- Trunk deck lid. I made a fiberglass panel to cover inside of deck lid. Used 3/8 foam and covered it in Black Alcantara it has some embroidery work like headliner. Inside of trunk. At the very back there is a plastic panel. I covered it in black Alcantara. Also on rear deck lid there is a plastic panel to cover trunk switches, latch and is where truck light is located. I painted it black.
- Front door panels. I did blue leather inserts. Arm rest are black leather with blue french stitching. Covered switch panel in black leather. Map pocket is black Alcantara. Then I did door handle bezels and door lock bezels in carbon fiber. Door handles are billet from UPR and so are top of window switch panels. I built custom speaker adapters for lower door mid bass and paint speaker bezels black. Then added UPR billet pieces on top of bezels.
- Console. Bottom of console is black leather. Top part is painted black. Then I made shift boot and e-brake boot out of black leather with blue stitching. Console lid is black leather with blue stitching and has embroidered the word Shelby with cobra snake underneath it.
- Dash. Top dash cover will be black leather with blue stitching.
- Roll bar. Having it made. It will be powder coated blue. Five point seat belts will be platinum.
- Steering wheel. Will be black and blue leather with blue stitching.
- Stereo system. MB Quarts QSD 216's front with added mid bass system. Rear is MB quarts QSD 213's. Sub box has two JL 8's bolted to rear window deck. Two JL audio amps. HU is Kenwood touch screen DVD and nav system.
Some other small stuff I wont bother to list. I would guess I'm about 3/4's of the way done. I have many pics. Not going to post all of them. Just what I consider good ones. All opinions welcome. Good or bad. Why would anybody do this to a new car. I don't know, because I have nothing else to do. Not sure, but this has been a very hard and long mod. So far I'm happy with how it looks. Just need to get it done so I can take it for a ride. It's been 6 months and counting. Pics don't do it justuce. It looks much better in person. My camera is getting old. Some pics are six months old. From back when I started. I'll update this thread as I get stuff done. So, many more pics to come. Thanks for any c
