San Diego Auto Show for Wednesday Dec 30?

A few of us were discussing this last Wednesday about doing the SD Auto Show as next Wednesday's club function. I was just on the SD Auto Show website and the show goes until 9 PM on December 30. An Issue I had with doing the auto show is parking. Parking at the convention center is like eight or ten dollars. One thing I was thinking of is getting in touch with the SD Auto show's public relations person or persons and getting parking for us right in front of the convention center where companies like Ford are doing their test drive promotions. I am sure Ford will be doing a test drive promotion for the Mustang. In my opinion, this would be a helpful promotion with Ford and make the club look good too.

I am not sure if anyone has any connections with any of the organizers of the SD Auto Show. I don't want to step on the toes of anyone else either. If you would like me to try and get in touch with the SD Auto Show's Public relations persons, I can do that on Monday and go from there. Let me know if this is a good idea to persue. Thanks!

The San Diego International Auto show goes until 9PM on December 30th.

Take the lead on it, you wont be stepping on any toes. All members can coordinate events. I think that would be fantastic.

Go for it Vaporizyed, that's a very good idea. See what you can find out. If not for this year, at least a contact for next year. Great idea!

OK, I will see what I can do about the parking issue on Monday. If I can't work anything out at least for this year's auto show, then it looks like Emilio has worked out that we can park on base and take the trolley.

Emilio or someone that has access to set up an RSVP for event, I would appreciate it. I don't think I have access to set up an RSVP. I would like to see how many of us can go to the SD Auto Show on the 30th. Thanks!

And as 0ne-Sik had mentioned, what about those who cannot get on base. Where should those members meet?

Well we just went over how nasty National City is but there is a trolley stop right across from base that has plenty of parking usually. Right off the 5 too.

I wouldn't park a 500 dollar car in that lot if you paid me!!

I have a couple times when I go to Padre games and nothing went wrong but there is definately potential.

I just sent out an email to the SD Auto Show Director and Public/Media Relations people. I hope to hear something on Monday. I will keep you all posted on what I hear.

Seriously don't chance it. Have a couple of buddies with National City PD said the 8th St station gets hit for car thefts and cars being vandalized hard. E St and Palomar Station in Chula Vista is high up there with car thefts and vandalism, too. Just an FYI

I just got an email back from the director of the SD Auto Show. They will not be able to accomodate us for parking right in front of the convention center. However, they would like to talk to us about doing something for next year.

As far as parking goes, Emilio said something about having us park on base. If that's possible, would non military members be able to park on base as well?

yes people can but need to have inlisted sign you on and depending on the time they mite not let people on. i know they stop letting people on at 10 on miramar

i have no idea about parking on base. with all the craziness that's been happening, i wouldn't doubt that they dont' let non-military on. any other ideas? too bad we can't park somewhere cool like in front. i'm down to go though. are there any other cool palces?

I want to get this out early for those interested in going to the Auto Show. Since it looks like we will have to pay for parking. There is a parking structure on the corner of Harbor Drive and 8th Ave. This is Right next to the Hilton San Diego Bay Front. In that same area of the Hilton San Diego Bay Front is the Fox Sports Grill. The address to the Fox Sports Grill is: 1 Park Blvd, San Diego, CA 92101. Let's meet there between 5:30 and 6 PM.

To put it in easier terms (even I got lost in the above statement)
San Diego Auto Show: December 30, 2009
Meeting Location: Fox Sports Grill (www.foxsportsgrill.com) located @ One Park Blvd, San Diego, CA 92101
Meeting Time: 5:30 to 6:00 PM @ Fox Sports Grill
Parking Location: Parking Structure on the Corner of Harbor and 8th Ave (this is adjacent to the Fox Sports Grill)
This is adjacent to the San Diego Hilton Bay Front
Convention Center is right across the street.

If I forgot anything, please let me know. Thanks!
