I agree with them X. If yo have never ridden before, I would start off with something around a 750. A 1000 is a lot of bike for someone who hasn't rode before. A 750 still has plenty of get up and go.

anything can kill you if you don't know what your doing. Just be careful, take a riding class, and NEVER let your gaurd down

go with the r1 there not what people think they are and with your weight an r1 would be a great bike trust me i have rode for years until i moved here i had 900rrs and 600's and a 1300 busa the r1 would be a good bike with your size but of course dont get carried away until you know what your doing

ESPECIALLY the riding class. If you do take the class, I believe you don't have to take do the DMV riding course/test. Plus insurance companies may offer you a lower rate. Insurance at your age???? on an R1 !!!!! INSANE!

God I hate this...I have had 6 bikes and even wrecked most of them due to me getting too crazy or some blonde or gray haired woman. What you DO NOT want to do is buy some panzy bike cause its your first bike. You will outgrow the bike in a month and be stuck with it or be upside down trading it in on what you needed in the first place. This is what your do..DONT BE STUPID. R1 is a great bike and a shipmate just bought one. Not fond of the red white color scheme but hey it's his bike. I love the Raven all black look myself. I'm a Honda guy with two Honda CBR 929s as two of the 6. If I bought another bike which I do plan to do eventually it will be a CBR 1000. So get what bike fits your body and be careful and learn the bike and its potential and dont be stupid. -Shane
