It’s getting to that time of the season where the air temperatures are dropping. The northeast will be breaking out the winter coats and doing some serious heads-up racing. We are just a few days away from the next Cecil County Dragway’s Outlaw Street Car Shootout. There has been a lot of noise with a few teams looking for that extra horsepower to get to the front of the pack. But just who will it be when the smoke clears this Saturday?
Chris Evans and Matt Butrim
Cecil County is well known for their great track conditions as well as drawing some of the heavy hitters from miles around. Chris Evans and Matt Butrim have found themselves in the midst of a war, just like Alex Vrettos had on his hands after he became the first in the 7.30’s last season. The limitations of the Mickey Thompson drag radial tires have yet to be seen and with the fire rekindled, the talk is to see who will make it to the 4.60’s in the eighth mile. An elite club with the likes of John Kolivas, Kevin Fiscus, Dave Hance and Steve Jackson who has been 4.53.
Alex Vrettos and CoRuPt Motorsports
As the days pass on the anticipation is building. Three guys come to mind who may just be the first in Cecil County history to race into the 4.60’s. First will be the car that has made some serious noise in the past few weeks. Chris Evans and Matt Butrim have turned the wick up on the Procharged Mustang that they partner on. They ran a 4.71 last week at MIR, which puts them in contention with some of the fastest in the business. You always have to worry about the wicked yellow Mustang of Alex Vrettos coming into contention. Vrettos has been a 4.70 and it was in the heat. His twin turbocharged machine has plenty of J&E power under the hood and id surely capable of being the man to beat.
Big Daddy Dwayne Gutridge

Last but not the least you can not count out Big Daddy Dwayne Gutridge. He has picked up several wins this season at Cecil County. While he always seems to be the consistent one, you should not underestimate the power of his small block. The veteran racer always has a few tricks up his sleeve to set himself apart from the competition. So head on out to Rising Sun, Maryland for some of the best racing on the east coast this Saturday. Don’t forget to look right here for all the coverage from the days event.
