There’s been a lot of talk on the message boards about the upcoming race at SGMP. The guys running on true 10.5” tires are getting their chance to take on the radial racers for a hefty payout. The crew at Berry Motorsports and Proline have been thrashing to get their car ready for this race and with some luck they intend to break their own record that is currently set at 4.57. Car owner Todd Berry predicts the car will see low 4.50’s with the assistance of his newly designed CNC intake. Many, including ORTC promoter Donald “The Mayor” Long believe that the records will fall.
A lot of people were curious as to why they were running a cast intake and this is why - they were still designing this new one. With 1600 hours into this intake, we knew it would be a fine piece. The team was always looking for a way to improve on their combo and they believe that this is it. The Blue Thunder Thor heads with massive intake runners that sit atop the 632 big block Ford require a specially designed intake, so options are limited unless you build something custom. Ever since the team switched to the new 632/twin 90mm Precision turbo combination from the old 598 combo, they felt the intake needed improvement. This new intake is simply a work of art for all that admire the mechanical beauty of it. Everything is bolt-on with no welding. The runners are all bolt together making disassembly easier on race day and o-ringed to withstand the astronomical boost pressures the motor sees normally.
Will Eric Dillard/Todd Berry prevail with a win at SGMP in February? We will just have to wait and see what they can do with this menacing hatchback, but stay tuned, as we will have the coverage. For now, the car rests calmly in Todd’s garage alongside his other toys (Nice garage Todd!).
