<br />For better or worse, not all of us can be Sam Witwicky, swapping spit with Megan Fox and attempting to foil galactic evil robots taking the form of common automobiles. But then, there's nothing common about this particular automobile. It's the actual Saleen Mustang that played the part of Barricade from the first <em>Transformers</em> movie. And one lucky collector just got his hands on it.<br /><br />One of only three made, this 2005 Mustang was built specially by Saleen and further outfitted by the props gurus at DreamWorks SKG for the film. The car started life as a Saleen S281 Extreme, with a 4.6-liter V8 and five-speed shifter, before being turned into the rolling Decepticon, for which the studio added a push bar, emergency light kit, white doors and decals aplenty. With only 4,550 miles on the odometer, minimal wear and tear, and unsurpassed bragging rights, bidding started on the Barricade Saleen at $1000 and the car sold at $36k - a far cry from the $100,000 - $300,000 declared estimated value, but still a fair few pennies more than the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/22/2010-transformers-special-edition-chevy-camaro-unveiled/">Bumblebee edition Camaro</a>.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/barricade-saleen-mustang-from-transformers-on-icollector-com/low/">Barricade Saleen Mustang from Transformers on iCollector.com</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/barricade-saleen-mustang-from-transformers-on-icollector-com/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/14761_0818_1_lg_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/barricade-saleen-mustang-from-transformers-on-icollector-com/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/14761_0818_2_lg_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/barricade-saleen-mustang-from-transformers-on-icollector-com/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/14761_0818_3_lg_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/barricade-saleen-mustang-from-transformers-on-icollector-com/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/14761_0818_4_lg_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/barricade-saleen-mustang-from-transformers-on-icollector-com/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/14761_0818_5_lg_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.icollector.com/2005-Saleen-Mustang-Barricade-from-Transformers_i8582907">iCollector.com</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/17/transformers-barricade-saleen-mustang-sold-at-auction-for-36/"><i>Transformers</i> "Barricade" Saleen Mustang sold at auction for $36,000</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 17 Aug 2009 16:00:00 EST. that is actually not a bad price for a collector car... i was expecting some wack job collectors raising it's price to shelby dealer prices.

thats crazy that it only went for 36k. i bet a brand new one wouldnt be much cheaper

well a 281e is like 70-80k i think. i am not certain they are actual 281extremes. most movie cars are sixers. it would explain an 80k car going for 30k. i know the publisher says its an extreme but how often have they screwed up stuff like that? an bumble bee wasnt a camaro. it was a gto that saleen fabbed up panels to look like a camaro. but i still thought bumble bee wouldve pulled in more money

my question is would i get a ticket for impersonating an officer?

No, you won't get a ticket unless you use or turn on the red & blue lights for any reason while driving on the street. But the police will be curious why you are driving a police lookalike vehicle. Most will see the decals and know its fake but will still give you a waring about driving it on the street. You can tell them its a show vehicle and most will be ok with it, but you will run into some that will give you a fix it ticket to change the decal and remove the light bar so that it will not look like a police car to other people.

i'd just drive it to see everyone slowing down to the speed limit. pace someone who slams their brakes suddenly until they exit, and generally turn everyone around me into the best drivers in the world for a couple miles.

and i'd freak if an officer ask me to deface a 1 of 3 car. every car needs to be driven. and i'm sure most have seen transformers, so they'd just be curious to see if it's the real deal or what.

Yeah, they won't make you totally change it, probably just take the light bar off and may have to change the "police" decal on the door. Unless you can show proof that it's a prop car or show car only. Which means you can't use it as a daily driver and it will not be a street legal car.

You will definitely have people all of sudden slow down to the speed limit. Hell, you should see the people slow down when they see me come up in my unmarked car. Slow down below the speed limit, that drives me nuts. LOL!

I hate when people do that! When I am doing the speed limit I certainly don't expect others who are going under it already, slow down even more! Even for a car stopped on the side of the interstate no cop around, Gheesh!!

it should be fine to drive like that. The light bar is legal to have if you dont turn it on while driving. And as long as its not exaclty like your state trooper or county car its fine. Just may have to change some fine writing on the side

I dont know about being able to drive it here in San Diego. Didnt the other club have a Saleen Barricade car and get into serious trouble for it? I know it dont look like that anymore!!!!!!!!
