Upgrading to tweed interior

After years of seeing tweed used on hot rods and mini-trucks I finally decided I will be using this on the interior of the mustang. Last night I completely disassembled the door panels to replace the bottom end of the wood in preparation for the tweed. It will have the words mustang on the bottom half of the door. I will be losing the power window switches as well and placing them on a custom center console.

I will be keeping this as updated as possible.
Here are the pieces of the door panel completely removed from each other.

This was the door panel that I removed. As you can see someone before me had spray painted the door panels in an attempt to color the interior of the car black.

This is the replacement wood I will be using for the new door panel. I added the clamps to make sure there will be no movement when I made the outline. After I cut it will go back against the wood for the clip holes to be cut out.

I will have more once I go out and get some tweed and foam

Glad to see i'm not the onlyone who likes tweed. I'm thinking of doing the same on my 2001. Looking at tweed on the dash:questionmark:, and all hard plastic parts. If not tweed, looking at faux suede in a grey to add some supple accents to the dark charcoal interior.
Good luck, and please take pics!!:hello:
