Very useful "how to" on lower torque box install

A few of us were speaking about this at the track and I think it looks pretty dang easy and I'll probably be doing my uppers and lowers soon. Initially I was just going to weld all the stock stuff, but I guess the extra reinforcement won't hurt.

I had all the lower reinforcement installed when I had the subframe connectors welded in place. Cost me $285 for the install. If I could weld, could have saved some cashiesh. I still need to reinforce the uppers, but I think I'll just finish the tac welding job around the current plates.

Anyway, just a tip. For the uppers you'll have to remove the control arms to get in and clean the metal. You will also need some carb or brake cleaner to get rid of all of the grime built up in between the 2 plates. I tried welding a little of the uppers a couple of days ago and the welder kept pulling the dirt out from between and making my welds pop, so I stopped until I get some cleaner and some better tools to clean the paint off metal in some of the nooks and crannies.

The axle tube welding is crazy, but a great idea. I didn't even think about getting that section of the rear firmed up.

My torque boxes were installed when i did the 4cyl swap... Got my parts for 60 bucks... It did my upper and lowers...

the axle tube welding is a great idea... but you want to make sure it is square first.. before the tubes brake they normally bend
