This something kind of cool I thought I'd share with the group. Consider this my thinly veiled & shameless attempt to make friends.

Anyway in my line of work servicing X-Ray equipment - I get to scan my own vehicles. Here are some of my Bullitt Mustang from last year that I thougth the group would enjoy.

Side view (yes that's me in there)

And here's the one I'm using as my signature.

Anyway it's still a cool shot.

Hope you guys & gals get a kick out of it. :hello:

Actually these are what is called "backscatter" x-ray images. In other words - reflected x-rays and are great for detecting organic materials or less dense low z materials. Glass has a very low atomic weight (Low Z) and in this case show up similarly to organic materials.

The images that are made with normal or "transmission" x-rays (not shown here) go through the target (in this case my Bullitt & I) show more of the skeletal structure/frame & drive train. This is because more or less blast through the organics (me) and less opaque materials such as glass and only show the denser High-Z materials.

You don't glow in the dark do you??

LOL! Gee - I've never heard that one before.

But actually the dose rate is less than you'd get from background radiation standing out side on a sunny day for 5 minutes.

Truth is - you'd have to pass through this system about 33,000 times to equal the exposre you'd get from one medical chest x-ray.

So no - I'm a long way from glowing in the dark. ;)
