Well I started on Eric's rear end build today. I took his axles to work and pressed on the c-clip eliminators and the wedding rings that press on top of the bearing. He is buying new studs and then I will get them pressed in next week. Here are just a couple pics of the eliminators installed.

He is here. For whatever reason Eric trusts that I will do a clean install and I'm getting paid. I'm all about helping out (when I have time), but this is a pretty big job and I have mouths to feed.

You dont need an engine. You need suspension. Your car is all over the place! The worst rear squat between shifts I have ever seen!

Its getting new springs and shocks and struts in future. Did you know on the new cobra jets they are running a stock gt spring on from and a v-6 spring on rear of the gt500's I read on the s 197 forum I just need to up grade the stock shocks and struts

Well Today was the day :) Eric and I started the build on the 02gt's rearend. I pressed on the C-clp eliminators and axle studs at work during the week.

Today was an eventful day to say the least, but we managed to get it done. The day started with Eric showing up without his wheel lock keys!! We fumbled with that for probably 30-40 min. before I was able to hammer a socket onto his lugs and impact them off.

Once we finally got the wheels off We drained the oil from the differential, pulled the brakes off and hung them and pulled the rotors off. Next we pulled the rearend cover and took the pin out of the diff exposing the c-clips. Once we got the c-clips off the axles came out.

Once the axles were out we took of the bearing caps and the differential was pulled.

I brain farted and didn't tell Eric to get new bearings for the diff, so we were going to use his old ones which were supposedly replace at DPR. Well after driving to a friend's house in Chula Juana to get the bearings pressed off we realized that they were all pitted and headed to NAPA to get some new ones. After hitting our second NAPA we finally got a hold of some new bearings. We then went back to the friends house in Chula and pressed on the differential bearings.

After the long drive back to El Cajon, we were ready to get back to work! We also had to stop off at Kragen to get a slide hammer in order to get the axle bearings out. Once the bearings and seals were out we cut the axle tubes and prepped them for the c-clip eliminators.

Once the axle tubes were prepped and ready to go we installed the new Eaton locker.

After some messing with the differential and checking backlash we then installed the axles.

Once we put the axles in we ran into a problem with the pin that slides into the eaton. I had to shave it down in order to get it to fit. This piece recieves no stress like in a c-clip set up, so we just wanted to get it to fit. We shaved about 1/8" inch off of about 2" inches of it and it finally fit into place.

Once the pin was in we buttoned up the rearend cover and filled her up with oil. Hours later we went for a test drive and all was well and the locker was snapping into action!
