Well I got off of work early today, so I decided to start on Eric's car. He bought the UPR front end kit which consists of: K-member, A-arms, coil over kit, bump steer kit and caster camber plates.

Got the car up on the jackstands and removed the wheels. After the wheels were pulled I hung the brakes with safety wire, so the brake lines wouldn't get pulled. I marked the rotors to insure they went back on the same side they came off of.

After I pulled the rotors I found a war wound. This hole was too big for a normal front stud from the splines spinning in the hole. Eric, since the hole is now bigger I put a rear axle stud in it's place and it fits tight. Good thing I bought a couple extra when I did the axles. :)

I then dropped the A-arms and pulled the springs and struts out. Before installing the coil over sleeves onto the struts the dust covers must be knocked off with a hammer and punch.

Coil overs put together and awaiting installation.

A-arms were removed and compared to the new ones.

After that the car was prepped for the dropping of the K-member.

As I disassembled the car I weighed all of the stock parts vs the UPR kit. This is what I came up with:

springs - Stock = 15lbs, UPR = 5lbs
CC plates - Stock = 1lb, UPR = 1lb
A-arms - Stock = 12lbs, UPR = 4lbs
K-member - Stock = 55lbs, UPR = 17lbs

Total weight of stock parts = 83lbs
Total weight of UPR kit = 27lbs

Total weight savings = 56lbs!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks guys!

I still have to install the bump steer kit, UPR solid lower control arms and fix a leak do to someones impatience or lack of another vehicle. :)

I also have to go buy some bolts for the steering rack. The UPR kit didn't come with bolts and the stockers are to long. I should be able to find what I need at NAPA.

First we will set the ride height how you want it. The coil overs are designed to store energy. The struts will have alot to do with it. Well get some base runs and if we need to we can adjust the coil overs up or down for the track. We will have to play with it to see what works best for your car.
