With DR's, you can probably get away without it. But you are suppose to.

that may not help you much if the drive shaft break. You want to keep it from going in to your car, too.

Plus, if they don't ask you, don't tell them. Most tech won't crawl underneath your car to see if you have one.

This one is pretty good, too. But not sure if it will fit a wider driveshaft should you upgrade it. The Ford Racing one I got will support up to a 3.5" driveshaft. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/LAK-18017/
