<div>Ford’s media is either very clever, or they slip up more often than they should. Either way, it seems as though pictures and word regarding major announcements of the Blue Oval’s pony car always find their way out into the public realm just days ahead of the official unveiling. It happened with the 5.0 Mustang (which we all knew about anyway) and again with Daytona 500 Pace Car Mustang.<br />

Now, thanks to a video posted on <a href="http://www.fordmedialive.com/shelby/index.php" target="_blank">Ford’s Media Live website</a> and found by FordGeek over at <a href="http://www.teamshelby.com/forums/index.php?/topic/53287-2011-gt500-revealed/" target="_blank">TeamShelby.com</a>, we have the first images of what the 2011 GT500 will look like ahead of the official Monday unveiling. <br />

The GT500 in the video (which has since been taken down and replace with one of flying birds, tranquil puddles, and blowing leaves) is equipped with the new-for-2011 SVT Performance Package. This package includes special SVT wheels, as well as skinnier stripes than on the average GT500. Also apparent on the rear of the car is the Gurney-flap on the spoiler, a small tab which makes a big difference in regard to air flow over the rear of the car.<br />

Beyond exterior improvements, the SVT package gets a 3:73 rear end gear ratio. A glass roof is now optional as well, and the 5.4 liter supercharged engine is getting an aluminum block, which will drop a substantial amount of weight from the front end. The rumor mill also reports that the power output for the 2011 GT500 will be at the 550 mark. We’ll have to wait until Monday for official numbers, but we’re looking forward to it.<br />
