A 21-year-old Marine died Saturday in a motorcycle accident on state Route 76 in Pala.

The man, who was stationed at the Miramar Marine Corps Air Station, was riding his motorcycle back from Palomar Mountain with friends when he lost control while attempting to pass slower-moving vehicles.

After losing control, he went off the road and struck a tree, the San Diego County Medical Examiner's office reported. The accident occurred about 1 p.m. just east of Magee Road.

The Marine's name has not been released pending notification of his family.

For you guys that have motorcycles stay safe....

His name was Chris Carrasquillo, my nepthew. I just got the news. Life taken too soon. I'm trying to find out where his body is at this moment. His mom(my sister) and his dad live in Fla. they just received the news as well. I want to see him before they send his body back to the east coast. The marine corp. won't speak yet. Please someone let me know (zzc1@cox.net)

Anyone know him? Rest in Peace

the guy that got hit by a car had a 848 ducatti its totalled. somehow he doenst have a scratch. the kid that hit me his bike is totalled, it spun down the highway at about 90mph for around 250 yards. the r1 has a broken peg. i think my stabilizer saved my ass. i keep it set real stiff, so i have to push real hard to turn the wheel. if it was off i would have gotten the tank slappers and probably lost it. i wont lie it was a much needed wake up call. we rode up the 5 flying through traffic then through ortega which if you dont know is a mountain on one side, cliff on the other and crazy crazy turns. the road is 35 mph and the turns are like 5-15mph and i dont think we dipped under 45 prolly averaged 70-90mph. hoppin past cars on a 2 lane road full of s turns and isnt wide enough for two cars hardly. then we hit the 15, everybody was all pumped and it was empty so we opened up. 7 of us going anywhere from 100-170, my buddy was pulling wheelies around 130, it was dumb. crazy thing is its when we slowed down the accident happened and it was good that it did. made us realize we arent invincible cause its easy to feel that way. i wont lie if my buddy wouldnt have just slid to a stop on the highway, if he would have hit something, he wouldve died. do i still love to go fast, yeah, but i do it alot more responsibly now and i am also about to drop 600 bucks on a GOOD riding jacket. i got a mesh icon hooligan, im buying a alpine stars gp jacket. full leather, back, chest, arm, elbow , shoulder pads. leather jacket saved my buddy from skin graphs maybe death, im not gonna roll the dice anymore so im buyin that jacket, a chest protector, and some riding boots. motorcycles are a blast but they are dangerous man.
