5 lug swap. Need technical advice or suggestions

Hey all,

I visited a local junkyard today and came across a 1986 Lincoln LSC Mark VII. I noticed that the mounting points on front and rear seem to match the Fox body Mustang. I kinda "eye balled" it with a 4 cyl 91 fox next to it and seems to maybe work.

Does anyone know if this is true? Can I use this car as a donor? If so I have to jump on it ASAP !!! these rotors and pads are almost new! Rear diff and all lines are in great shape. Car has just over 125k miles.

Also, if I could indeed use this stuff, should I buy the whole rear end or just pull out the axles? I've never pulled out axles before. What's involved?

Some pics form the Lincoln:

I know people have used the lincoln front rotors, but for some reason I was thinking the rear was longer, but I'm not sure. May want to research that.

http://forums.corral.net/forums/show...13#post8499013 yes it will all work!

this thread on the corral.net tells you every junk yard part/car that has parts useable on a mustang... I used this thread to do my 3G alternator swap from a ford Taurus! even used the wiring from the Taurus! I believe the lincoln mark VII has a 3.55 gear with rear disc as well...

Well, after some research, it appears that I will have to go with a 94-95 Mustang front and Ranger rear.

the Lincoln would work for the front, but the height of the rotor hat is too long and will limit the wheels I can use. Example, I can't use 95-98 Cobra and 94-98 GT wheels, unless I use spacers in all those examples and that will increase my track width.

I can use that Lincoln rear end or just the axles, but I would have to switch out the brake master cylinder and add a Wilwood proportioning valve.

I'm just going to keep it simple for now. Sticking with sn95 front and Ranger rear drum.

I'll poct up pics when I get that project going .

THANKS EVERYONE!!!!

I haven't really gone out there to look. I was junk yard shopping for my 79 F250 and happen to come across that Lincoln, which sparked the 5 lug swap idea.

There was a guy in San Diego that I contacted earlier today. He wanted $60 for spindles, and calipers with brakes lines. Rotors were worn beyond resurfacing.

However, that was the first contact. I'm gonna do more shopping. No hurry. My current stock 16's has brand new tires.

I had a lincoln rear set up of my car for about 3 years. I removed it because I kept tearing up tires. I had to cut the lip off and still had problems. I now run the ranger axles with the pbr brakes. With the ranger axle you can run a 10" wheel. I still have the lincoln rear set up if anyone wants it. just come and get it.

whqat gears were in that axle?

Tag had 3:55 on it. The car looks amazing for its age.

Well, today I picked up the front setup from a 95 GT, complete with hoses and semi new pads, great rotors too.

All I need now is either the Lincoln rear or Ranger/Aerostar axles.

I'm diggin that Lincoln though. Might do that afterall.

yes you are.. i ask if it was 3 L 55 because the L means it has a Trac Loc diff... i think i might go pull the guts out of one... shims and all and throw it in my stock 8.8...

its not the gears i want but i could probably get them for almost free.. and i wouldnt have to worry about braking the rear diff anymore... just the axles LOL
