If you thought the all-American Ford Mustang couldn't get any more American, think again.
150 red, white and blue Mustangs will be assembled in an American flag pattern at this summer's Carlisle Ford Nationals. Silver Mustangs will make up the pole for the flag.
The display will cover the Mustang's rich history by including new and old cars. It will consist of 57 red, 51 white, 35 blue and 10 silver Mustangs. It will look similar to this one made of Corvettes:
This Year’s Flag Event Details
The event runs from June 3-5, 2016, but the display will only be featured on the first day. The cars will be arranged from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and stay in the formation until 4 p.m. The display will be located on the northeast side of the grounds.
Ford Nationals Event Manager Ken Appell said of the upcoming display: "To honor this historic vehicle and the country is no small feat, but with the help of our loyal enthusiasts, we know this will end up being something very special."
Though this flag display will no doubt be impressive, it is not new to the Carlisle Ford Nationals. The event has previously paid tribute to the Corvette heritage by assembling them in the flag pattern.
What Else You’ll Find at the Nationals
The Carlisle Ford Nationals is the largest all-Ford event in the world. Fans of the Ford, Lincoln and Mercury brands can check out the stunning vehicles in the parade and the accompanying street displays.
While the parade field has a whopping 400 Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles, over 2,800 vehicles will be included in the street display. Carlisle is a huge hub for Mustang fans, with parts dealer CJ Pony Parts right down the road and dozens of huge car shows happening every year.
The historical, concept and custom models are the main attractions of the show, but there are plenty of other things to enjoy too. There will be test drives, giveaways, a burnout competition, autocross, club activities and kids' activities. If you're looking for parts for your dream ride, there will be swap meets and vendors throughout the event space as well.
