beejay31000 - plans

so, im sitting here at work looking up **** on the internet for my car, and i cant stop thinking about all i want to do when i get home. i cant sleep at night, i just lay there thinkin. its awesome but it sucks at the same time... ive talked to the wife and i think i got her blessing on a plan. ive also talked to a few helpful people in the club and gotten some advice on where this car will go. eventually it will be a daily driven car/drag car....crazy huh. so heres the plan

1st mod to happen: this will happen as soon as i get back.
-repair my torn tq boxes and strengthen them, straiten rear end
-weld-in subframe connectors

estimated cost: $350-500 done by shop (dont know where yet, any suggestions?)

2nd mod: this one is bigger because its gonna involve the wifes blessing and a credit card...lol. i think shes still good with it.
-Adj lower control arms
-upper control arms
-5 lug conversion w/ 31 splines (rear drum)
-rims/tires (re-mount my rear tires on the new rims)
-eaton posi diff for 31 splines
-new airbag in my rear left spring (mine is torn)

estimated cost; $2500-3000, will do all work at hobby shop if people want to help out

from there my rear suspension should be more than strong enough for anything that i want to throw at it and i can move on to more power and weight reduction. this is where i dead end at. i know what i eventually want, but dont which steps i want to take to get there, and how long it will take to get the money for it. these are my basic thoughts

302 based motor w/ power adder(eventually) 400+rwhp
6spd transmission
front k-member and coilover kit
manual steering/brakes
aluminum radiator w/ electric fans

that should be all the major parts that i want, there are plenty small ones like remove all non essential parts and usless emissions garbage, dress up items, interior items, etc...

ive realized that this build will take a long time to get it where i want, but i finally found a starting point thats taken me a year to get. i could never decide what i wanted the car for....now i know.

so.....what do you all think.

Why a 6 speed?

Sounds good.....

Do you have a power rack and pinion steering now? If so when you upgrade I wouldnt mind knowing what you want for the setup....

Dont want to HIJACK BUT!

We are in the same BOAT ( am in on a boat actually)

So far i have already gotten the 5 lug swap, steeda springs, kayaba shocks and struts, and a 95 axle with beefed up rear end (no one wheel peel) and 3.73 gears.

After thinking every night about a tranny i have decided on a tko600. I thought about the 6 spd but decided against it. I also bought some cragar ultralights and am trying to pick up james' cobra wheels he has for sale.

Woodside did my MM full length SFC. Full length is the ONLY was to go IMO. Pierre did good work and was good priced.

Good luck with your build man, and stay safe.

so, the reason for a 6spd is it will be a daily driver and i dont like autos.....plus i want to keep my 4.10, so i keep the good gears, but also have one more up top for highway. i know i will gain some weight, but hopefully i can offset that by taking out other nonessential stuff.

gibs, i dont know when the steeing mods will happen, but if im still in SD when i do it we will work something out.....maybe make a trade....you have something i want;)

as far as restlessness, ive never had it before...and it just hit me the other day when we got back on BOXER.....before that i was fine...but now....no

navyfc117, how much did you pay for your subframes if you dont mind me asking......with install....trying to price everything out.

I dont think i am allowed to name the price. because when he was finished he wished he would have charged me more. BUT LCR has the SFC for about 113 i think. They are MM.

i'm kinda doing the same thing you are. almost have all the suspension done with tubular K-member, 8.8 solid axle, coilovers front and rear, and a viper spec t-56.

i dont have the power yet, but someday i will. no point in fixing my diff with a 28 spline for the same price as a 31. ya know.....

yup, i'm still pretty stock as far as the engine goes. the last time i dynoed it, the car layed down 311 rwhp. but hopfully in a few months i can put a blower on the car and get the power up around 450ish at the tires. for now.
