Chicane Car Show Pics

Well after drinking untill 2:30 in the morning. (Bad idea) I had to get up at 5:30 to meet everybody down at the mission valley target. As I crawled out of my car at the parking lot half dead, I told Fightingsailor "Dude you owe me a smoke for making me come to this" Lol. But after a while I was almost feeling better so I took a few pics of the day. Lets just start with the eye candy that started to make me feel better

It was awsome, the cruise into chicane up the PCH was 170 cars! we arrived with our area set aside among over 200 cars. Lotsa great giveaways and all sorts of "eye candy".... Next time we need to show up with more cars!!!! Stangpede outnumbered us 5 to 1....

Looks like a good day. Sorry I missed the festivities. When I got there (with my escort of great-sounding "Elite Fords"), there were a couple hundred Mustangs parked nose-to-tail along the streets all around Chicane's location.

Must have been some kind of record-setting cruise from Huntington Beach, too.

I did get a chance to drive down the street where I lived from 1948-1956. The old homestead, where I raised rabbits and chickens and calves for sale and slaughter is now the site of a "continuation school". Pretty sad.

My venture to the Society of Automotive Historians' Literature Faire at the Pomona NHRA museum was worthwhile: I got the book I was after, "Winged Sports Cars, and Enduring Innovation, The International Championship for Manufacturers in Photographs 1962 - 1971", and a couple of others. Got away pretty easy: spent less than $200, when it could have been thousands. Fantastic display of auto literature and collectibles, and I was able to meet a few online acquaintances, and renew a couple of frienships.

I learned a lesson: the Faire is like a yard sale: they say "Open from 8AM to 3PM", but by 7:45 when I arrived, sales were in full swing, and many of the bargains had been scooped up by the early birds. One fellow snagged a copy of "The Brothers Rodriguez" list at $149, for $75. Snooze and lose.

It would have been nice to see the "eye candy", although I'm kind of against exploiting kids in that way, for the most part.

Maybe next year the two events will be on different weekends? Here's hoping.

Great Day. Was it 170 cars on the cruise? It was heck of a sight coming out of the parking lot, regardless.

It was nice meeting you, 96 and Mizz and Brandi in person. Also finally meeting you in person, Roushed and your family. Good seeing you again, Goonies.

Great day everyone and Fighting Sailor, great job in getting the people to the event. Maybe you would like to take over as the next Event Coordinator when my term is up next year.
