Clutch & Brakes

Why ya treat me like that?
Hello boys and girls,

I've had my Bullitt for about 5 months now. The shifting and braking seem sloppy compared to the beginning.

How do I (someone else) remedy this? I prefer the clutch and shifting to be TIGHT. Brakes seem sloppy too. Don't like that.

Your suggestions / help / direction will be greatly appreciated!

maybe some brake pads will help but i know that steel braded brake lines will help a ton.

No. It's not me. I am very sensitive to any changes in the performance of my machines. Same for my road bike. I can tell immediately if she's 'off".

wonder if its just your car is finally broken in. Most things are tight when its new and they loosen up after a broken in period. I don't know, just a thought.

The fellow, Clifford, at the 'Pimp' shop said the braided thingies would be great. He also said that the 'slop' in the clutch / shifting was common after a short time in this car.

I love that shop! Amazing, Amazing cars there.

i think a fire wall ajuster might help with that but i wouldn't be too worried about that as much as the brakes.

I agree. I loved being able to wait until the very last minute to brake and they were smoooooooooooth and accurate.

I don't think there's really any adjustment unless you change your pads and lines. Its natural for it to loosen up.

Feeling a difference in your brakes and clutch are normal because they are being broke in.. Like a road bike, when you buy it need to take it back after like 300 miles to get it tuned because the cables stretch etc. Same would apply to your car. =D

It is normal for brakes and clutches to wear. They weren't designed to last forever. Time of replacement of the brakes and clutch will all depend on you and your driving style. If you drive like an old lady they may last alot longer then if you drive it like you stole it! Either way they are parts that need replacing. I would try adjusting the clutch before buying a new one and have an inspection done on the brakes and pads. There are minumum tolerances on how much pad you should have. Don't just start dumping money into it.

P.S. I think that stainless steel lines are great, but they will not add any performance to your brakes. However, they will last forever and will not end up with any holes in them.
