Gears?

Wondering where I am!?!?
I know this question has been beat to death and I have been searching all over.

4.10 or 3.73

The car is going to stay NA and maybe drag radials. 50/50 on freeway/city driving with some long freeway trips in the future. I am really leaning towards 4.10, just still not sure yet.

Thanks in advance!!

well everyone on here will swear to 4.10's. especially with a 5speed tranny. i like my 4.10, but for highway they are a tiny bit too agressive, hense the reason i said 3.90

How so? That is one of my worries.

EDIT: I forgot to add that the car will be seeing some weekend drag racing at Barona.

for the track 4.10's for sure. it all depends how loud your car is too. i cruise at 70mph and the car is reving to about 3k.

I think the SLP exhaust will drown out most of the gear/rev noise! LOL

I am concerned about engine life with high revs over a long period of time.

3k isnt that high. most cars reve between 2-3k on the highway, but with a loud car you notice it more. it may seem high, but theres a lot more to go i can still pull over 140mph too.

My Choice for your car is 4.10

The problem I have is that the Bullitt is a crossbreed, not GT or Cobra.

The car's powerband is between 3500 and 5500.

After reading the link you sent me, 4.10 does look the right gear.

For a change, I have to agree with Emilio....4.10 is the way to go

You'll sacrifice a bit of top end speed with 4.10's over 3.73's but i don't think that much. Also a little bit of gas mileage(probably knew all this). I have 3.73's and like them.

My answer.... if going F/I route than 3.73's. Plans to stay N/A,,, than 4.10's. Don't know why but I was told that by some guys. I think that thought is with 4:10's and F/I constantly hitting boost if using centrifugal S/C or Turbo? Twin screw and Roots you are always "in Boost" basically. I saw the 3.90 suggestion not bad...Only thing I have heard is that at 3.90 often wish you had 4:10 when racing cause you are so close but on highway wish had 3.73 for RPM"S and gas? But 3:90 may be a happy compromise. Good luck just get soemone good to install if you don't do yourself. NO gear whine is not normal and gears don't break in or quiet down(or so I am told)

I have a few points to make with 4.10's
1. I seem to read this all too often is that people are concerned with the top end speed, if he will be going to the track he isn't going to breaking the traps at 140 MPH and people aren't driving on the highway at 140+ so dont let that diterre you from getting 4.10's.
2. gears aren't supposed to whine regardless because they helical cut (side ways) and they are not meant to make noise, if they are, that means the ring and pinion aren't lined up right.
3. I'm pretty sure you didn't get a mustang to save gas so get the damn 4.10's!!!!! LOL

4.10s are too much if you drive on the road. its the different between say like 15mpg to maybe closer to 20mpg. and if you dont have the power its just quick off the gun. my 95 mustang had 4.10s and i would beat a lot of cars from a dig, for about a hundred feet, maybe 150ft. 3.73s are a nice well rounded gear. is it going to give you that same trap time as 4.10s? no. but you also wont be revving like crazy just driving. which doesnt seem like a problem til your putting gas in it. trust me i did a blower not worrying about gas, then i bought a bike so i didnt have to drive it it got so expensive.
