Are lenders being REALLY careful who they qualify nowadays because they don't want more foreclosures?

I have a friend with an incredibly high credit rating and he's qualifying for less of a house now than he did two years ago. Seems lenders are tightening up on qualifications...something they should have done 2-3 years ago instead of being so loose with the money.

True, houses are out there for pennies on the dollar but banks are being super careful who they lend to. Buy now if you can! We have to get rid of all these foreclosures before builders can jump back into building NEW homes. Those of us with houses won't see our values go up until the foreclosures are sold and new home construction picks back up.

There's a LOT of unemployed home builders (actual workers) out there waiting to go back to work but there's little demand for NEW homes when there's so many foreclosures sitting there empty.

Good luck on your home search and glad the oil leak was fixed!
