How To Save The Government $5 million...

A president's pension currently is $191,300 per year, until he is 80 years old.
Assuming the next president lives to age 80. Sen. McCain would receive ZERO pension as he would reach 80 at the end of two terms as president.

Sen. Obama would be retired for 26 years after two terms and would receive $4,973,800 in pension. Therefore it would certainly make economic sense to elect McCain in November.

How's that for non partisan thinking???

I am all for it.......

But I think they would screw military members retirements to save the money instead.

Not to defend McCain necessarily, but I think he didn't sign on with the new GI Bill because he thought, like many do, that enlisted men and women would leave the service at their first opportunity to take advantage of the educational benefits and that this would thin the military drastically. I don't know if that's true or not or how accurate it is, but I've read that a few opponents have had that concern. I'm just glad it passed anyway. You guys deserve all you can get!

The Marines are taking a hard hit with this new GI Bill. I know guys turning down 20 G's worth of reenlistment bonuses just so they can get out and use it. They mucked up royally passing that bill. I would not care if it was just the screwballs getting out but we are losing good Marines because they wanna go back to school and can finally afford to.

IMO the best change that they made with the GI Bill is the ability for your spouse or child to be able to use it, even if you must stay in for another 4 or 6 years to let them use it, I think its worth it... college degrees mean more today then they use to
