Man Holds Back GT500 With Just Muscles

We men pride ourselves on our cars as well as our muscles, which is probably the reason why the term “muscle car” has stuck around for decades. And cars certainly do require a certain amount of muscle and elbow grease to loosen those rusted-on bolts. But few of us have the strength of body or mind to try and hold back a Mustang GT500 as it burnouts out a few feet in front of us.

But as this video from National Geographic’s show “Humanely Impossible” shows Austrian strongman Franz Müllner has no reservations about such a feat.
First a recap of the GT500. With 540 horsepower and 510 ft-lbs of torque on tap, it is one of the fastest and most powerful American cars you can buy right now. It was built to punish pavement. The test calls for the GT500 to start burning out, and then Franz has to hold the car back for as long as possible while doctors measure how his body accomplishes such a Herculaneum task.

Franz was able to hold on to the car for 6.7 seconds as the car exerted 1,375 pounds of force on the strongman. That is more weight than any Olympian has ever lifted, proving once again just how amazing the human body can be. Franz’s body essentially formed a muscular chain, and held the GT500 back just shy of his own world record. Franz previously held a Lamborghini Diablo back at full throttle for 7 seconds. Can you say strong?
