Mountain Drive 25OCT?

Just got back from being out to sea again, and thinking about heading out to the mountains and do that drive I heard so much about. I think Daryl (DSGinportslayer) is going to come, and if anyone can pull themselves away from Hooters (maybe we should leave from Hooters and go drive), we should go. Honestly, I will go with just one other person, but as always, the more the merrier.

If nothing else, how do you get to the mountain drive some of you did a few months ago? (you know, the one I heard about overheating engines and burning brakes)

Otherwise, I will see you guys at the working party sunday. I'll bring the truck and the air tools. I wanna see that engine in the fox.

Hey check the calendar for the event we had last weekend......

Just go up the 15 to 76 East to Palomar Mountain.....I think it is like S6......If you arent looking for it you could miss it.....it will be a spot that you go to the left of the y in the road. Then when you get to the top, continue down the mountain and make a right at the bottom to go west on 76 taking you to the 15 or take a left until you come to 79. Take a right and go into Santa Ysabela....follow a variation of the 2nd annual cruise route!

Thanks for the directions, DSG and I tore it up on the mountain Rd. My engine got real hot and started pulling timing, and his brakes faded horribly on the way down. Still had a blast though. We tried to meet up with you guys afterwards at Hooters, but everyone was already gone.

Gettin excited about swapping the engines.

Did you guys go up the tight side or down it?

It took 4 minutes for me to have smoke rolling off my rotors and no brakes left....LOL

I think we went up the tight side (shorter section). I didn't experience any fade at all, which is a credit to the hawk pads I have. I do need to do a cooling system flush and put 20/80 with waterwetter in the radiator though, cause 50/50 wasn't doing me any favors. I got 3/4 of the way on the guage and the engine started pulling timing hard under boost.
I can't imagine what the braking would be like with stock GT brakes. Thank God for huge rotors.

Well that time we went down the tight, shorter side. James had his brakes heat up too.....Not as bad as mine though......

I have no issues going up though. A/C on as hard as I can go on the way up and the car runs great.......down is a completely diff story. For the tight side that is.

had a friggen blast. i think goin down the long side hurt more cause i could get alot more speed so had to slow down more for the hairpins. was so fun and it didnt take us that long either. we left around 11 and got to hooters at 1345. almost 3 hours. we were bookin it though as soon as stupid traffic got out the way. traffic ftl.
