I thought I'd bring every one here up to speed about my transmission install a while back.
Install-
Everything went really well right up to when we found and issue with the T45 that was currently in my car, which had failed in less than 5,000 miles do to a bad install form another shop that I will go without mention here. Well Greg ordered up a new pilot bearing and it turned out to be a minor set back. Wes got his camera out and took probably a dozen pictures of the install issue and the damaged caused, which I seriously appreciated. Those pictures helped me a ton to actually get some compensation from the shop that did the bad install. The install took just a little longer than estimated but I wasn't charged anything other that the new pilot bearing. :cheer2:
Parts-
Were not specifically from Renegade but if your interested... My trany was actually a hush hush deal with a company who wanted their failed T45R back for inspection fearing it was their problem. Not to mention some good publicity on the forums Im a part of. To make up for all the hassle Richard (now at AmericanPowertrain) sent me a T45RS"S" Built by John Reggio who used carbon gears for 1st-5th and reverse, carbon fiber sycnros & blockers, brass fork pads, steel shift forks, T56 Viper modifed shift rail and a custom short throw. Apparently they also took the blocking rings to the lathe and shaved .015" off each one which "gives it a positive engagement when shifting".
In short... it feels crisper, firmer, and very direct. It engages the gear hard almost like a built automatic.
Overall-
There now the only shop I go to. It seems they can and will do anything, do better work, and charge less. They didn't have to spend the time taking a dozen pictures of another shops mistake and they didn't need to disregard the extra time these issues took them but they did. Its a good shop run by good guys tired of the bs all to commonly found in this industry. Thanks Renegade!
