Well I did a search and I could not find a thread dedicated to shutterbugs. I used to have a full studio but sold it for a new hobby (stangs) I currently have a Canon EOS 5D with a 24-70mm F/2.8L, and a 200mm F/2.8L and a 50mm F/1.8 with a Canon 580EX MKII speedlite. I have a few other goodies and love bringing my camera with me to most places I go. Here are a few shots from the past few months. I figure this could be a place where all the photogs can get together and share their knowledge on the subject.

here is a few I did when I was stationed in Okinawa Japan

I got some books if you want to use them

Understanding exposure is a great way to understand manual settings. In automatic your camera is not going to do anything good. You can get better pics from a point and shoot lol. Seriously bro if you want to learn we can go out one day and I can walk you through it.

We can plan something for one weekend. Its not that hard once you get the hang of it. You just got to have something interesting to shoot or make it interesting. Cars are not usually that fun its candid shots on the streets or portraits for me then scenery.

We can plan something for sure. I dont know everything about photography and I learn something new almost daily. The worst thing to do is to think that you will learn by reading. Put it on a tripod and take multiple pics on different settings and see which one you like and document it. You can usually find all the info on your EXIF data. I will be more than happy to share my knowledge if you guys want to get together for this

the d500 is supposed to be a cross from the d60 and the d90 or the d300 (I acant remember). I dont know anyone who bought one yet cause everyone I know that has nikon has a d700. They all love their cameras. If you guys ever get bored check out fredmiranda.com or photography-on-the-net.com for the canon guys. You can find good deals on used glass or cameras.

minolta xd11

Good :pics:, Good use of surrounding foliage and buildings. I use to have a Minolta xd11 with 100x zoom, different filters, and a tripod.
Those b/w shots are very good. I liked shooting farms looking through moss, leaves and such, really ads to the shot. Try shooting Bee's in flight, it's AWSOME!
Try some nighttime long exposures. use lot's pf lights. I especially liked shooting cars and motorcycles and such moving down roads next to water ways, and shooting buildings at night.
Enjoy the camera, I miss having my XD11 all the time.
