Ok guys, this is for those that have had experince with the survival evasion resistance and escape class on North island, i submitted for a set of orders to become a sere instructor. I know what the class is for and teaches from what i have read but i have not talked to anyone that have had a first hand experince with SERE. These orders are the only ones that popped up for a DC2 in san diego and this was my last chance to choose orders before they just handed them to me. Any of you guys(CWO/ GIBS:)) that have been in a while had experience with SERE?

No SERE experience but... I do know you will go to JIT (instructor journeyman) school. Go to the instructor Journeyman training on NKO and get it done before you attend the school. I have an old shipmate at SERE OS2 Price (I think maybe OS1 now) she also went through JIT with me. You will be expected to qualify MTS once you get to SERE. I hope this helps.

SERE was hell! Went through the school in 1988. I'll say it was "Hands on" instructions back then and the instructors played their roles real good and took it real seriously (get my drift?). Can't tell you how it is now, but it was real physical and mental back then. But prep us for the real world. After the class, we all decided we much rather die then be capture.

Also......the instructors, or "role players" all spoke Russian (sounded like Russian) when we went through just to put us in the environment (Cold War) of potential enemy.

I have been thru the Army version but it was more of a Interrogators course then a SERE course but yes its very "hands on". It will be tough but very rewarding.

Good luck, hope you get it. Its a very good course and prepares many for deployment. I'm guessing most of the students there will be pilots and air crew.

I have been there and actually just got offered a position at the one here. Im not sure if im going to do it yet. I have to reenlist to do it and am leaning towards it. Its a tough desision but it would be an awsome experience. If you havnet done sere yet you will probably have to. It is fun ;-)
