Nice to meet you all. I do have to say, I think I found exactly what I was looking for here.

Little introduction is in order, I think.

Name's Paul. I've been a proud member of the United States Marine Corps for about a year and a half, and about 5 months ago settled into Miramar from my A school. I'm new to Cali, but not new to the west coast, since I'm originally from Washington State.

I've only recently got into Mustangs (about 3 months ago the love affair started), but it's hit me like a bus doing 70. I love the history, the following, the American icon that is and always will be the Mustang. I guess some people buy a 'Stang for a daily driver, to get from point A to point B, but I'm hoping to buy into that iconic American image, and look forward to every second of it.

Now some pretty personal stuff about me, not that I usually go tossing this stuff out in the air, but it's why I'm looking for a gathering of like-minded individuals to hang out with-

Recently, my wife of 9 months and my high school sweetheart from Washington for the last 3 years, was caught by me having a month-long affair with my neighbor while I was on base working. Needless to say, I'm working through a divorce, but in the meanwhile I've sort of been barreled into a completely new part of the country where I don't really know anybody. With my soon-to-be ex wife gone, things are gettin' pretty lonely around here, so I sought out to find a group of people I could hang out with at events, in my spare time, etc. Besides, a love affair with something that needs oil and gasoline sounds like a pretty safe investment right now.

I look forward to getting to know everyone on here, and hittin' up as many of the group events as is physically possible. I'm still pretty new to cars (I build my own computers though haha), but I love to learn (the STACK of Mustang magazines and the web browser full of Mustang websites will attest to that). Hopefully I wont annoy the snot out of the more experienced gents here with my "common knowledge" questions.

Hey Paul,

I'm pretty new to Mustang myself, just got my current Mustang in March. Like you said, it just started rolling. Sorry to hear about your marriage, but there's plenty of good people and most are active, retired, or vet of the military. There are also many with serious knowledge of the Mustang, any questions you have someone on here most likely will be able to answer or find the answer for you.
Come out and join us at our events, check the calendar, most events are on them. The next one is the Gearhead rendevous next Saturday, 1/3/09, info on the calendar. We have our monthly meeting on 1/7 at JBA. We have a big event next month at the Barona drag strip on 1/25, Mustangs vs The World Part 1, it'll be huge. Check out the thread. Anyways, many things to come hope to see you out there.

Sounds awesome. My buddy took me to the drag strip here at the Q, but running the 1/8th just doesn't have the same appeal as running the 1320. Was one badass fox body there though, not to mention my gunny's cobra.

we just have to make do with what we have. We are lucky to have the 1/8th here. Hopefully someday, we will have a 1/4 drag here again.
