OK, they may not be a "Mustang" shop but they definately are reputable.

I just wanted to publicly say how impressed I am with the quality of my new Trufiber hood. I know some of you have them you must be equally pleased.

I ordered my 2005+ Heat Extractor hood throught the WS performance parts shop with Emilio's help.

Upon arrival, I inspected the box, removed the hood and gave it the once over and all looked OK. So far, so good. But then again, it isn't saying a whole lot for Trufiber if the shipping company can get an item from point A to point B. It's what's INSIDE the box that I'm writing about here.

Since I had had recent knee surgery, I couldn't do much as far as dragging that box around, lifting the hood or putting it on my car but helpful friends came over and helped. Putting the hood on and installing the four hinge bolts took less the five minutes but the fit right out of the box surprised us all.

There is no slack, no room for play, no wiggle room when it comes to the hinge bolts and where they tighten up. Where the go is where they go and you get what you get when you snug them up. All you can do is HOPE for tolerable alignment. This hood is perfect! It's amazing. From the hinges to the headlight, the gap between the hood and fender are consistent all the way down on both sides. And with a minor adjustment to the height bumpers abover the headlights, the hood is flush with both fenders.

All this tells me the R&D at Trufiber is meticulous about fit. And the manufacturing facilities overseas are obviously as conscientious about the finish and structural integrity. Obviously quality control plays a major part in the product Trufiber creates.

I tip my hat to Trufiber! This is the first item I have bought from them and I have to say, I'm impressed right from the start!

It goes in for paint Monday morning. I have worked this plan out with the painter.

1. Drive Mustang over to paint shop with hood ON the car.
2. Hood is removed from car and car driven home "hoodless" (2 miles)
3. When hood is ready, car is driven back to shop and hood put ON car.
4. After driving back home, hood is removed from car and put on a blanket on top of car to cure for one month.
5. After one month, hood is put back on and I begin to wet sand and polish the hood. This step COULD be done on a table, I haven't decided yet which way I will do this.

The purpose for putting the hood on top of the car is because the car is garaged and covered. Putting the car cover over the hood after freshly painting it would leave a pattern of the cloth cover in the paint because the paint is still soft an uncured. I will remove the freshly painted hood, cover the car with my car cover, lay out a GI wool blanket on the roof and then put the hood on the blanket and let it cure in open air for a month before attempting to wetsand and polish. This way the "car" stays covered but the hood is in open air in the warm summer heat "curing" without anyone able to touch it.

It's the best plan we could come up with. The other option was to leave it at the painter's shop for a month but I don't want to ask him to store it for that long.

This is a no-brainer paint job. Base coat (3 coats) clear coat (3 coats). No masking. Just prep, prime and paint. I will do the rest.

Then I have the joy of trying to stripe the darned thing with decal stripes. Ugh! Gonna be a pain in the @ss!

FYI: Remind this customer and all your customers that it is very important to have the hood prepped and painted by a body shop that is specialize in fiberglass.

Also, advise the customers / body shops that they will need to use an "EPOXY PRIMER" to cover all the imperfection on the fiberglass surface. Last but not least they will need to bake the hood so the hood can be 100% cure. If they don't use the correct primer and if the hood is not 100% cure there will be paint issues and warppage issues

10-4! How does the body shop or anyone for that matter KNOW when the hood is 100% cured?

Maybe I'm NOT going in for paint on Monday!

Do they mean to be sure the PAINT is 100% cured or "the hood"?

I would have thought the hood was cured LONG before it was shipped overseas. No?

Ah screw it, I'm just gonna paint this thing myself.
I still have a quart of PPG DAR9000.
Might as well just do it myself and save $$$$.

Hey Mav, wanna watch?

Great company

I cant really vouch for thier hoods cuz I dont have one. But I have seen A bunch of them And they look like very high quality hoods.
My comment is more about customer service:
I have been looking around for a while for some vents for my stock hood. I wanted to stick with the "clean" look that my car has kind of evolved into since I got rearended and put the Shelby bumper on and shaved the brake light/gas cap.
So, I didnt want any hood scoops or anything. When the GT500 KR came out I really liked the vents in the back of the hood and thought they would look great on my stock hood w/ the GT500 front bumper I will eventually get.
That is when I saw Trufibers new Venom hood (see pic below). I emailed them and asked if they would sell me the vents separate. They agreed to sell them to me despite the fact that they are not offered separately. He told me the because I am in Wicked Stangs he would make an exception.

GREAT BIG THANKS TO TRUFIBER!!!!!!
