05 short block/03 top end on a 96?

Can it be possible?

Is there anything I need to do to make this work?

My sister has a 96 GT that's on its last leg. I was going to yank it out and rebuild it, but for less than a third of the cost I found an 05 short block and 03 heads/intake. Total $900

Both bottom and top ends have approx 30k.

I'm not familiar with mod engines. I need your advice

Yes it will. 4.6L short blocks are all the same between 96 to 09.

and YES on the 03 heads, HOWEVER.....

In 99 they went with a returnless fuel system. You can convert the returnless to a return system like the 96 came with. That is the prefered way. Not expensive.

They also went with a different fuel injector style. Either injector will work on the intake, but the fuel rails might be different. I am not 100% sure on the fuel rail. But EITHER injector will work and fit the manifold just fine. You will have to convert the wire connectors on the injectors. These are available. I was going to use the new style injectors on my 98.

The 96's had some issues with the thickness of the manifold and they cracked. But other then that, there is no improvement in the 03 style. Unless it is the Ford Racing version, which is the Bullet Intake.

So in short, yes it will work just fine. And you will get a nice bump in HP from the "PI" 03 heads. And I would just reuse the old manifold, injectors, and fuel setup. Make life easy. The 96 intake will work just the same.
