We're invited to participate in the 3 day walk by driving along the route to support the walkers. The idea is to have a rider w/ every driver so as not to get distracted. If you can't find a rider, Fighting Sailor has recruited some people from work that are willing to. Please make it known how you plan to participate, to help us better prepare It will begin at Del Mar and head south, which would be approx 20mi a day.
This is expected to be the biggest portion of the walk across the country.

I encourage as many of us to participate as possible since most of us have been affected in some way or another. If not personnally, someone you know.

If you have any questions please contact Barbie or go to the site below. The site is for a specific participant in the walk that I have been talking to, however, we would be supporting the event as a whole and not just one group.

Opening Ceremony
The Breast Cancer 3-Day begins early Friday morning with the Opening Ceremony.
This celebration is not just for participants. Friends and family are highly encouraged to attend, though please note that seating will not be available, so if you are unable to stand for 30-60 minutes, you may want to bring a folding chair. Please allow extra travel time due to expected traffic congestion at the site.

After the Opening Ceremony is over, participants will begin walking the 60-mile route and start a journey of a lifetime. It will be even more special if you are there to help send them off with smiles and encouragement. We'll also have a Breast Cancer 3-Day gear store on site if you'd like to purchase a souvenir for yourself or your participant.

Once everything gets kicked off, we should have at least one car at each cheering station during the designated times. The other cars can stay at the cheering stations or drive along the route, however, parts of the route are not available for vehicles.
Cheering Stations
Public cheering stations are a great way to show your support along the route to encourage walkers and let them know that you are with them every step of the way. Seeing familiar faces cheering them on can provide that extra burst of energy that gets them to take that next step or go the next mile. Create banners, hold up signs, bring some music and make some noise - anything to make them smile, get energized and keep walking.

Edit Report

I would like as many cars to be at the opening and closing ceremonies as possible. Kim, the lady I've been talking to, is just going to be driving to the different cheering stations throughout the weekend.

The walkers will be camping out before it gets dark, so we won't be staying out too late.

after scouting out the cheering stations, the only one we found that would not be good for us to drive to is the one at the Coast Park Blvd. There is a beautiful view for the runners to look at, and the roads are not condusive for extra vehicles to be around.

We also need to make sure people have hand held radios for communicating with each other.

Ok. How do you want us for Saturday and Sunday? Just pick a spot to go to or a designated meeting spot?

I have some hand held radios.

I know on Saturday and Sunday the runners will get started sometime after sunrise. I'm not sure exactly when. All I was able to find out was the times for their cheering stations. If you come before that time, it shouldn't be too difficult to find out where they are though.

We should meet at the first cheering station for the day for Saturday at 0800 am disperse from there.
Sunday we can meet at the cheering station at 0615.
