let it run with boost for some more time that way you can get an accarate number count when everything has been running well.

I took the Bullitt out last night for a little "spin". I rolled the throttle on hard in 2nd gear and the rear end tried to come around. And that was with the traction control on! Now that's entertainment.

LMAO

I can't wait to get a hold of mine when RPMM is done

Jack, you will not be disappointed (except with the decrease in gas mileage because you've always got your foot in it and the increase in tire wear for the same reason)LOL

I really like what whipple did with the Air cleaner Housing on the newer models vs. the older styles where there is an S&B Cone filter.

That Cali CARB air intake is restrictive. Even with the lowest boost pullies, you will lose HP. If you up the boost it really restricts the output and the airflow to the MAF gets very unstable.

I bet you pick up 20+rwhp if you had just the airbox open when doing dyno pulls.

I have seen where they remove the filter on supercharged applications and gain 20-50rwhp

I have a Bullitt back in the shop that we put the Steeda blower belt system on. He already had the HO pully set from Whipple, but was getting some belt slip after a while. He has well over 400 runs on the car at the track. It's his full weight track toy! LOL!
The car puts out 530RWHP now on a race gas mix with about 70-80 runs on that set up.
It's back today for more timing in the tune. He has been told that he's already on the ragged edge, ESPECIALLY the way he uses it. He has money to burn and signed the dyno waiver.
When the car had the Whipple tune in it, I felt it was a bit lack luster in performance, given the boost figures. Since we're in Az, I told him to get rid of that air intake system, given what I saw in the data logs. Just going to the Ford racing air intake, there was a 15hp PEAK increase and a MUCH more stable airflow. You could REALLY get the MAF transfer dialed in well and it was much more uniform. THere were other areas in the tune that needed attention, but I don't wanna give away ALL our secrets. ;)

The intake on Ken's bullet is only temporary. We are getting some tubing made to hook up the factory ford racing intake back on it.

Only bad thing about that is that the canned tune from whipple will no longer work or the current dyno tune. It will have to be retuned.

Not if it's made to the same size!

I doubt it man. The MAF is in that flat area on the CARB intake. The flow did change quite a bit.
Now it may not change that much if he has the 8lb or what ever is the lowest boost kit.
I just wanna pass on what we've had come up here.

cool I have a question for you two, If he ran an ofter market TB like a bbk 62mm or a gt500 wouldn't he make some better #'s or would that increase the boost.

I would think the GT500 would make more power just my 2cents though. More air going in ect. I plan on runnning one on mine in near future. I just need a spacer to hook it up. JDM has a kit with T.B. complete with
spacer buts its around 500$ You can get the T.B from fordracing cheap all the money is for the spacer and the connection tube thats a 5inch to 4 1/2

I wouldn't do it at his level.
I would put the money that he'd spend on the TB to working on the rear suspension if it's not already done.

A larger TB could make a difference. Boost is a measure of backpressure. His car is making 10.8lbs according to a local dyno and its making over 435rwhp with only 18 degrees of timing. The car does have more in it with custom tuning and such. A larger throttle body usually will not make more boost on a measurable scale at this level. Throttle body size usually isn't as important on a supercharged car at this level. Trying to keep a whipple warranty is difficult when you start adding things like this and changing the tune. I believe this is a good level of power for plenty of fun and still retain some reliability. More than this and your in risk of hurting something in my opinion. Of course we all hear of exceptions of people making 500+rwhp out of a stock engine. Most of them seem to start letting go after 450+rwhp even with safe tunes.
