We thought those tidbits might hold over the internet 'till the official embargo date lifts early next week, but we were wrong and therefore are still awake at 1:30 AM on Christmas morning writing this post. Thanks to Jalopnik via MustangHeaven via BurlappCars, we have the first images of the 2011 Mustang GT and its new 5.0-liter V8. <br />

You can read more about some of the engine's details that have already leaked <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/12/18/i-autoweek-i-spills-more-beans-on-the-2011-ford-mustangs-5-0/">here</a>, but let's just take a look see at what we've got. Kudos to Ford for leaving the engine's tippy top unadorned and we also dig those 5.0 badges on the engine and fenders. Nostalgia FTW - OMG! An old fat guy with a sack of stuff just crawled out of my fire place! I think he's a burglar. Gotta go hide the silver, Merry Christmas!<br />

Wow, looking good...

Ford's reborn 5.0 will in addition to 412 HP put down 390 lb-ft of torque. "But how?" you ask? It'll be an all-aluminum engine with iron cylinder liners, a factory counterweighted forged crankshaft, main bearings that are at least four bolts. A fresh head design includes very interesting vertical intake ports, with four valves per cylinder, and variable valve timing on both intake and exhaust. It also gets mated to both the 6R80 automatic transmission or the Getrag-built MT82, same as the V6 'Stang. There's plenty of other kickass stuff in this engine, but we can't talk about those things yet, because breaking embargoes is totally amateur-hour. Writing about the information after they've been broken? Well, that's totally fair game. We've got reputations to uphold after all.

If it has forged pistons also, I might have to restrain myself from buying one.

Poor 2010 owners. Dealers are going to have a hard time clearing them from the lots now and value just dropped like a rock. Reminds me of 96-98 GT's.
