I don't know how dark of a shirt you want to use but you'll lose the tires, all the outlines and anything black in the artwork if you go to a dark shirt.
Here's an example of what's lost on a black shirt. You can't see the tires anymore. You can see the rims, but no tires, no outlines....because the background is dark.
I actually designed the artwork for white shirts since the examples shown were white and white with a dark band on the sleeves.
